About Me

Big Dismal is a Florida-based rock band featuring vocalist Eric Durrance, guitarist Chuck Shea, bassist Gary Sobel, and drummer Corey Lane. Believe, the official debut album, appeared in May 2003. The 'Believe' album was nominated for the 2004 Album of the Year, Dove Award. Big Dismals’ accomplishments include three number one radio singles and 2004 BMI Song Of the Year, "Remember (I.O.U.)," that remained number one on the Christian charts for almost a year. BD also had two songs on Mel Gibson’s 'Passion Of The Christ' movie soundtrack, "Rainy Day" and "Reason I Live." That soundtrack was also nominated for 2004 Album of the Year.

For the last 18 years the band has focused on their musical careers separately but have always remained brothers. However, they have always known that they are magical when together. Through their separated years they were humbled by the loss of a child, the loss of parents and the loss of their beloved Road Manager, Dan Godwin. Today, Big Dismal has reformed and is currently recording a new album for their upcoming 20 year reunion/anniversary tour. Those life experiences will be reflected on new singles and a new album coming in 2025.
